Music

I am dedicating this page to the music I love, and the bands/artists that I can’t get enough of. Of course, like a lot of people, I find my love for music reverting back to the bands that I mostly grew up listening to. There are a few bands on this page that I have become quite fond of in recent years, but most of them are classic rock bands and artists.

Journey

Journey is probably THE first rock band I have ever gotten into. It all started when I heard “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” played on the radio one day. The first time I heard that song, I thought it absolutely rocked! I loved the loud crunching guitars, the sound of the keyboards, and Steve Perry’s soaring tenor voice. I went on to get their back catalog and any newer releases of theirs.

But, the band called it quits around 1987 and would not be heard from until nearly a decade later. During Journey’s hiatus, founding member Neal Schon and keyboardist Jonathan Cain joined up with singer John Waite and formed the early 90’s supergroup Bad English. The Waite fronted group released two albums and then vanished shortly into the early 90’s.

Later that decade, Journey reformed with singer Steve Perry and released Trial By Fire. They scored their first ever Grammy nomination with the song When You Love A Woman. However, Journey failed to support the record with a tour and the album vanished. Perry left the band in ’98 and was replaced by vocalist Steve Augeri. Augeri was the former frontman of a band called Tall Stories. Augeri toured with Journey from 1998 – 2006, while releasing two albums and an EP with the band. After throat issues, Steve Augeri stepped down and Jeff Scott Soto replaced him. However, Soto’s stint in Journey was short-lived. In 2007, Neal Schon reached out to You Tube and found Filipino singer Arnel Pindea. Pineda has been with the band ever since.

Journey plans to release their second album with Pineda entitled Eclipse this year.
